Netflix has built a CDN, called Open Connect, to distribute streaming media through most of the world. According to Sandvine, Netflix accounts for approximately 15% of all downstream traffic volume across the entire internet.
Netflix's Open Connect offers another option though. The company will gladly put a box with a copy of itself—which is to say, nearly the entire catalog of its offerings—inside your friendly Wipe and restore the Netflix app—but not your media streaming device. What ultimately worked for me to get Netflix working on my housemate’s TV was to uninstall the Netflix app, wait a minute If possible, connect your device to a different internet access point, then try Netflix again.
