I believe that port 53 is used for DNS so if it was being blocked by VM then you would not be able to access any web site, none of us would. Definitive proof that what Peplink speculated was, in fact, the case. Someone was intercepting the nmap probes to port 53 and nmap never got to talk to the router. While it is not fair to say that nmap, in the screen shot below, is lying to us, the results are nonetheless wrong.
